THE PROJECT
BW Strike approached the project with two needs: present the detail of its boxing equipment and show how that equipment looks in use. The photography connects controlled product studies with a real boxing-gym setting, covering gloves, focus pads, training accessories and athlete portraits.
The product shoot
The original production notes describe a controlled studio setup using softbox lighting and a high-resolution DSLR with a macro lens. Multiple angles were used to show the construction, branding and visible details of boxing gloves and focus pads.
Inside the gym
The live-use photographs were made in a boxing gym, working with professional boxers. Faster shutter settings and continuous shooting supported the action sequences, while portable lighting supplemented the available light.
Solving for movement and light
The main production challenges were keeping illumination consistent in a changing environment and controlling motion blur during fast movement. The combination of supplemental lighting, camera settings and timing allowed the project to connect product detail with sporting context.
Equipment in its element.
The shoot uses two complementary approaches. Controlled product lighting brings shape, branding and surface detail into focus. Athlete portraits and training scenes put the equipment into context, carrying the collection from a product presentation into the rhythm of a boxing gym.
Closer to the craft.
Close views bring gloves, wraps and training accessories into focus, showing the equipment from the athlete’s perspective.
Shape. Finish. Function.
Across product arrangements and action imagery, the equipment remains the visual anchor. Multiple views show different forms and finishes, while colour and monochrome treatments give the series variety without losing the BW Strike identity.
